Abercrombie Denim. Worth the hype?

Hey ya’ll I’m so excited to bring you this post! I’ve been so curious about Abercrombie and Fitch since they rebranded a few years back. I have not shopped there in over 10 years because I thought I outgrew it but I’ve been seeing moms like me all over the internet going nuts about the the Abercrombie denim scene. So naturally, I had to try it out for myself!

I ordered a sampling of 3 different styles and materials to get an idea of what they have to offer. I got a mom jean, a boyfriend jean and a skinny jean with a modern twist. And you guessed it, all of these jeans were in the clearance section for $19. Do I ever pay full price for anything? No. I will link the styles that I tried out and hopefully they will still be available.

Ames Boyfriend Jean
Rise: 9″
Inseam: 26″

Let’s start with the Ames boyfriend jean. I have SO MUCH FUN wearing and styling boyfriend jeans I haven’t even worn any other kind of jean in so long and if you follow my blog you know I’m obsessed with the Old Navy boyfriend jeans. So glad I took a chance on these Abercrombie boyfriend jeans. They are called low rise but the rise is 9″ so that’s actually a mid rise. I can’t rock a low rise jean because it cuts off my love handles >>> muffin top. The denim is 100% cotton non-stretch but they are so soft and have that worn in feel. I could live in these jeans.

The Ames boyfriend jeans are super distressed and may not be your cup of tea. I hope my mom isn’t reading this because she would say I’m homeless. Does anybody else have parents that don’t understand that the wearing holes in your jeans is trendy? lol It took me awhile to get into too but I think these are adorable especially with that side stripe. It helps to elongate the legs in these otherwise short and stumpy jeans.

Mom Jean
Rise: 11.5″
Inseam: 26″

I did it! I finally tried a mom jean. These are thick, rigid, and stiff and the Abercrombie website will tell you that too. They have some distressing at the bottom and are super high rise so they’re really cute with a cropped graphic tee.

I’m returning the mom jeans because the denim is just way too thick for the hot weather here but if you live somewhere with a cooler fall and winter, you might want to check these out! They have darker washes too and options with no distressing.

Harper Low Rise Ankle Jean
Rise: 9.5″
Inseam: 27″

I was not expecting much from these harper skinny jeans but they turned out to be my favorite! Once again, they ARE NOT low rise they are a true mid rise and I wish Abercrombie would stop with this nonsense! The material is so soft (92%cotton 6%polyester 2%spandex). They are super comfortable and my new favorite skinnies.

These jeans also have a fun yellow stripe on the sides. I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere and I think it’s cute but I wouldn’t pay full price for it because who knows if it will be in style next year. Also the hem is raw but there’s no crazy distressing on this pair and I can appreciate that.

So that’s my Abercombie denim roundup and review. Overall I do think they’re worth the hype, especially if you can find a style you love on clearance. The materials and construction seem to be high quality. I hope this was helpful to you. For size reference I’m 5’7″ and wear a 28 most of the time but all of the jeans in this post are a 27 so you might want to consider sizing down. Also for my Guam friends, they do ship to Guam!
